Liposuction in Delhi

Sculpt Your Body with Expert Care

Stubborn fat is one of the most common frustrations people bring into the clinic. Not general weight concerns, but specific pockets that stay put regardless of how clean the diet is or how consistent the gym routine gets. The inner thighs, lower abdomen, flanks, double chin, upper arms. These areas have a biology of their own and no amount of discipline changes that.

Liposuction removes those fat cells permanently. Dr. Monisha Kapoor, a plastic surgeon in Delhi with 25 years of surgical experience, performs liposuction at her clinic in Saket, New Delhi. Precise, targeted, and planned around the patient’s actual body proportions.

What Is Liposuction?

What is Liposuction

Liposuction is a surgical procedure that removes excess fat from specific areas of the body using a thin tube called a cannula. The cannula is inserted through small incisions, breaks up fat cells, and suctions them out. Once removed, those fat cells don’t grow back in that area. That’s what makes liposuction fundamentally different from weight loss: it changes the shape of the body, not just the number on the scale.

It’s one of the most performed cosmetic procedures in the world and one of the most misunderstood. It isn’t a treatment for obesity. It isn’t an alternative to a healthy lifestyle. What it is: a precise contouring tool for patients who are already reasonably close to their target weight but have specific areas that refuse to respond to conventional methods.

Dr. Monisha Kapoor performs liposuction as a standalone procedure and in combination with other body contouring surgeries like tummy tuck and mommy makeover for patients who need more comprehensive results in a single surgical session.

Who Is an Ideal Candidate for Liposuction?

Liposuction works best for a specific kind of patient. Whether that’s you is exactly what the consultation is for, but here’s the honest picture upfront.

Ideal Candidate for Liposuction

You’re a strong candidate if:

  • You’re within 30 percent of your ideal body weight
  • You have specific stubborn fat deposits that haven’t responded to diet or exercise
  • Your skin has reasonable elasticity and will conform to the new contour after fat removal
  • You’re in good general health with no uncontrolled medical conditions
  • You’re not pregnant or planning pregnancy in the near future
  • Your expectations about what liposuction changes and what it doesn’t are realistic

You’re probably not the right candidate if:

  • You’re significantly overweight and hoping liposuction will replace weight loss
  • Your skin has poor elasticity and may need a separate procedure like a tummy tuck to address loose skin
  • You have underlying medical conditions that affect healing or anaesthesia safety
  • You expect results to hold without maintaining a reasonable diet and activity level afterwards

One more thing worth knowing: liposuction is not a cellulite treatment. It removes fat cells. It doesn’t smooth the skin texture above them. Patients who come in with cellulite as their main concern need a different conversation altogether.

Types of Liposuction Procedures Offered

Several liposuction techniques are available at Dr. Monisha Kapoor’s clinic in Delhi. Which one is recommended depends on the area being treated, the volume of fat to be removed, and how the patient’s skin is likely to respond.

Tumescent Liposuction

Tumescent Liposuction

The most widely used technique globally. A solution of saline, local anaesthetic, and adrenaline is injected into the target area before fat removal. This firms the fat, reduces bleeding, and provides local pain control during the procedure. Safe, well-established, and effective across most body areas.

VASER Liposuction

VASER Liposuction (Ultrasound-Assisted)

Ultrasound energy is used to liquefy fat cells before extraction, making removal smoother and more precise. Particularly effective for fibrous areas like the back, male chest, and areas that have been treated before. Results in less bruising and faster recovery compared to traditional techniques.

Power-Assisted Liposuction

Power-Assisted Liposuction (PAL)

A motorised cannula vibrates rapidly to break up fat cells more efficiently. Allows more precise control and is especially useful for larger volume procedures or areas with dense fat. Reduces the physical effort required, which directly impacts result consistency.

High-Definition Liposuction

High-Definition Liposuction

For patients who want to enhance visible muscular definition, particularly in the abdomen. Fat is removed from very specific areas around the muscles to create a sculpted, athletic appearance. This is a technically demanding procedure that requires precise anatomical knowledge. Dr. Monisha Kapoor plans high-def liposuction carefully with each patient to ensure the result looks natural for that individual’s body type.

Benefits of Liposuction

Benefits of Liposuction

  • Permanent fat cell removal: the fat cells taken out during liposuction don’t come back. Maintain your weight and the result holds. That’s a fundamentally different outcome from dieting, which shrinks fat cells without removing them.

  • Targeted precision: no non-surgical treatment removes fat from specific areas with the same accuracy. Liposuction addresses exactly what you point to, within safe removal limits.

  • Improved body proportions: patients often describe the result not as weight loss but as their body finally matching how they feel inside. Better-fitting clothes, an improved silhouette, a shape that reflects the work they’ve put in.

  • Minimal visible scarring: incisions are very small, typically 3 to 4 millimetres. Placed in inconspicuous locations and nearly impossible to spot within a few months.

  • Combination-friendly: liposuction is regularly done alongside tummy tuck surgery, mommy makeover, or body lift procedures for patients who need both fat removal and skin tightening in one session.

  • Confidence that carries into daily life: this comes up in almost every post-procedure consultation. Patients who’ve carried a specific body concern for years describe a real shift in how they feel, not just how they look.

Why Choose Our Clinic in Delhi

Dr. Monisha Kapoor has been performing body contouring surgery in Delhi for 25 years. As a Gold Medalist in MCh Plastic Surgery and India’s first female member of the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS), she brings full surgical depth to liposuction that many aesthetic clinics in Delhi simply don’t have.

Body contouring requires a genuine understanding of anatomy, fat distribution, skin behaviour, and proportion. Getting the shape right isn’t just about removing fat. It’s about knowing how much to remove from each area, how the skin will respond to the change underneath, and how the result will look when the patient stands, sits, and moves in their actual life.

Every liposuction procedure at the clinic is planned around the patient’s specific body, not a standard protocol. And as a plastic surgeon in Delhi with over 10,000 procedures performed, Dr. Monisha Kapoor has seen enough variation to know that the same technique doesn’t serve every patient the same way.

The Liposuction Consultation and Procedure Process

01
Consultation Process

Consultation

Dr. Monisha Kapoor assesses the target areas, skin elasticity, fat volume, and overall body proportions. She recommends the right technique, discusses realistic outcomes, and covers recovery expectations and cost. All of this before any decision is made.

02
Pre-Operative Preparation

Pre-Operative Preparation

Blood tests, pre-operative instructions, and fasting guidelines are provided in advance. The areas to be treated are marked during a pre-surgery assessment. Photographs may be taken for planning reference.

03
Anaesthesia

Anaesthesia

Liposuction is performed under general or local anaesthesia with sedation, depending on the areas treated and the volume of fat being removed. Dr. Monisha discusses the right option with each patient individually.

04
The Liposuction Procedure

The Procedure

Small incisions are made in discreet locations around the target areas. The cannula is inserted and fat is removed in a controlled, methodical pattern. Most procedures take between one and three hours depending on how many areas are being treated.

05
Immediately After Procedure

Immediately After

A compression garment is fitted before you leave. You’ll be monitored for a few hours and then discharged with full written care instructions. A follow-up appointment is scheduled within 7 days.

Recovery and Aftercare Guidelines

Week 1

Swelling, bruising, and soreness are normal and expected. The compression garment must be worn continuously. Most patients manage discomfort with mild prescribed pain relief. Strenuous activity should be completely avoided.

Week 2

Swelling begins to reduce. Early shape changes become visible but the final result is still weeks away. Light walking is encouraged. The compression garment continues.

Weeks 3 to 4

Most patients return to desk work and light daily activity. Bruising has cleared for most people. A lighter compression garment may be introduced.

Month 2 to 3

Swelling continues to reduce progressively. The shape becomes much clearer. Around 70 to 80 percent of the final result is visible at this stage.

Month 4 to 6

Final result is fully visible. Skin has conformed to the new contour. This is when comparison photos are typically taken.

Dr. Monisha Kapoor’s team provides a detailed written aftercare guide at discharge. Follow-up appointments are scheduled at one week, one month, and three months after the procedure.

Frequently Asked Questions About Liposuction

Is liposuction a weight loss procedure?

No. Liposuction removes fat from specific areas but the total volume taken out is relatively small. Most patients lose 1 to 4 kilograms of fat. It’s a contouring procedure, not a weight loss treatment. The goal is shape, not the number on the scale.

How long do liposuction results last?

The fat cells removed don’t come back. If your weight stays stable after the procedure, results are long-lasting. Significant weight gain after liposuction can cause fat to accumulate in other areas of the body that weren’t treated.

How much does liposuction cost in Delhi?

Cost depends on the number of areas treated, the technique used, and whether the procedure is combined with others. A personalised estimate is given during your consultation at Dr. Monisha Kapoor’s clinic. No generic pricing is quoted without first assessing the patient.

Is liposuction painful?

The procedure is performed under anaesthesia so there is no pain during surgery. Post-operative soreness, tightness, and tenderness in the treated areas are normal for the first week or two and are managed with prescribed pain relief.

What body areas can be treated with liposuction?

Abdomen, flanks, inner and outer thighs, upper arms, back, chin and neck, chest including male gynecomastia, and knees are the most common areas. Multiple areas can be addressed in one session depending on the total volume being removed.

Can liposuction be combined with a tummy tuck?

Yes, and it frequently is. Liposuction removes fat from the flanks and outer abdomen while a tummy tuck addresses loose skin and separated abdominal muscles. Dr. Monisha Kapoor performs these as a combined procedure and plans each case to determine whether a single session is appropriate and safe.

Will there be visible scarring after liposuction?

Incisions are very small, around 3 to 4 millimetres, and placed in inconspicuous locations. Most scars fade significantly within 6 months and become very difficult to see. Incision placement is planned carefully for each patient.

What is the difference between liposuction and a tummy tuck?

Liposuction removes fat. A tummy tuck removes excess skin and tightens the abdominal muscles. They address different things. For patients with both excess fat and loose skin, combining both procedures in one session often gives the best result. Read more about tummy tuck surgery here.
