The procedures usually take anywhere from 1 hour to 2 hours, depending on how large an area of skin is involved.

Procedure:

During dermabrasion, Dr Monisha Kapoor will numb your skin with anaesthetics. You might also have the option of taking a sedative or receiving general anaesthesia, depending on the extent of your treatment.

If you’re planning “surface repairs” on your face, you may also be considering any laser treatment depending on your individual needs, an alternative method of surgically removing the top layer of skin. However, dermabrasion uses surgical instruments to remove the affected skin layers, while laser treatments include pulsed light, pulsed-dye lasers, and fractional lasers. Non-ablative lasers may be used for rosacea, spider veins, and acne-related skin concerns.

Patient Story:

In this particular patient, she had visited close to 50 doctors all over Delhi NCR in the past seven years and got many treatments done and was frustrated with the money spent and creams she applied on her face.
Surgical dermabrasion was selected as the last option to resolve her problem but it is not a very easy thing for a person to undergo surgical dermabrasion, one has to be in a darkroom for close to 3 months and not expose their face to direct sunlight.

Only when the patient had the patience to comply with the post-operative precautions then only the patient sees miracle happening, otherwise, it’s difficult for doctors to treat a client who has not enough patience to listen to the importance of post-procedure instructions.

 Aftercare of dermabrasion?

After dermabrasion, treated skin will be red and swollen. The swelling will begin to decrease within a few weeks to 3 months, as far as the result is concerned it may take 6-8 months to show up depending upon the healing process of the skin.

Dr Monisha Kapoor will give you complete home care instructions about how to take precautions, how to cover the treated area, and which products to use. You can expect to return to work in about two weeks.

The good surgical result is not only the responsibility of a surgeon but the patient also has an equal part to play, only when the patient is hundred per cent compliant with the post-operative advice then the magical results appear. Complications only happen when patients lose their patience and start switching doctors and start interfering with the treatment protocol.
